Revival Building & Remodeling: A Journey Through Our Latest Roof Replacement and Screened-In Porch Project in New Oxford, PA

At Revival Building & Remodeling, we recently completed a large roof replacement project while also building a screened-in porch for one of our valued homeowners in New Oxford, PA. This roofing project started with a simple conversation and turned into a remarkable transformation. Here’s the story of how it all happened.

Helping the Homeowner

I received a call from a client who we had already been working for that had noticed a lot of activity in his neighborhood. Several roofing companies had been knocking on doors, and job signs were popping up along his street. He was curious if he could file a claim with his homeowner’s insurance to replace his recently hail-damaged roof. He mentioned he didn't want to trust just any company and preferred working with someone he knew—us.

The Inspection Process

We immediately scheduled an inspection to assess the damage. Our expert team climbed up and inspected the roof thoroughly, documenting all the hail damage. Also, we did a GAF Quick-Measure report, to ensure our take off accuracy and GAF Quick-Site report, to show all the recent damage in the area. We encouraged the homeowner to file a claim with his insurance company and provided him with all the necessary images of the roof and information we thought would help to make the process as smooth as possible.

Filing the Claim

The homeowner filed the claim, and soon after, an insurance adjuster came to inspect the roof. The adjuster confirmed the damage and approved the claim for a roof replacement. This was a crucial step, and we were there every step of the way, from initial inspection to communicating with the adjuster again to ensure everything was covered.

Getting the Estimate and Approval

Once the insurance company provided the estimate, we reviewed it with the homeowner. We explained the costs and the next steps, making sure he understood everything involved. Were are sure he felt confident and relieved knowing we had his back and could help guide him through the process. Insurance companies and filing claims can be not only stressful, but sometimes even intimidating.

The Roof Replacement

We are honored and privileged to call ourselves a GAF certified roofing contractor, which means we use top-quality materials and offer exceptional warranties. We started with a complete tear-off of the old roof, about 50 squares in total. We used GAF Timberline HDZ Asphalt Shingles, along with other GAF products to meet warranty requirements like the GAF Cobra Snow Country Ridge Vent, GAF Seal-A-Ridge Caps, and GAF Pro-Start Starter Strip Shingles. We also applied synthetic underlayment and ice and water shield for added protection (considered a dwelling code upgrade to most insurance companies.)

During construction, we always take care to protect the homeowner’s landscaping and bushes by covering them with tarps. The entire roof was installed within a day and a half, showcasing our efficiency and dedication to quality work.

The Screened-In Porch Shed Roof

In addition to the roof replacement, we are currently installing a screened-in porch with GAF Liberty Self-Adhering Roll Roofing, perfect for the low slope (less than a 3/12 pitch) of the porch shed roof. This roofing material matches beautifully with the main roof and provided excellent protection.

Final Touches and Warranty

We didn’t stop there. We provided the homeowner with a Systems Plus Warranty through GAF, which offers extended coverage on materials and workmanship. To make the process even smoother, we gave him rebate credits towards his deductible and covered the cost of the warranty ourselves. He received the warranty documentation in hand just a day or two after the new roof was installed.

Completing the Project

Once the roof was completed, we helped the homeowner submit the final paperwork and documentation to receive the final payment of depreciation from his insurance company. The pictures of the finished project truly speak for themselves, showcasing our excellent workmanship and attention to detail.
