The year 2025 is here, and with it comes a wave of innovation and evolving trends in home remodeling, particularly in home additions and custom home building. At Revival Building and Remodeling, we're not just keeping up with these changes – we're helping to shape them. And a big part of that comes from a deep-rooted understanding of construction, built on generations of experience.
I'm Jesse, owner of Revival, and construction is in my blood. It's not just a job; it's a legacy. While my father's path in custom home building and remodeling was distinct from my great-grandfather and grandfather's excavation businesses, the passion for building and creating was a shared family trait. That passion, along with the knowledge passed down through the generations, has shaped who I am today. So, you could say I was raised on sawdust and blueprints.

This lineage has given me a perspective that few others have. It's not just about knowing how to swing a hammer or read a plan; it's about understanding the why behind every step, from the ground up. And I mean that literally. We've seen it all at Revival, from the initial site work to the final finishing touches.
This comprehensive understanding is crucial, especially when tackling complex home additions. You can't effectively add onto a structure without a thorough grasp of its foundation, its bones, and its history. Unfortunately, at 37, I see fewer and fewer contractors with this deep, start-to-finish knowledge. Many specialize in one area, which is fine, but it can create gaps in the overall understanding of how a project comes together.

But experience isn't just about what you learn on the job. It's also about the challenges you face and how you overcome them. Every project, no matter how well-planned, throws curveballs. There are material delays, unexpected issues, and sometimes, even just the sheer complexity of coordinating multiple trades. These aren't setbacks; they're opportunities to learn, adapt, and refine our processes. We’ve learned from our share of struggles and shortcomings – every mistake is a lesson etched in our collective memory.
And it's not just about the technical aspects. Life throws its own hurdles, too. Navigating those challenges, both personally and professionally, builds character and resilience – qualities that are essential in the construction business. For me, a big part of that personal growth has come from my involvement in sports like jiu-jitsu.
You might be thinking, "What does jiu-jitsu have to do with home additions?" More than you might imagine. Jiu-jitsu teaches you resilience. You get tapped out, you get submitted, but you come back stronger, more determined. That’s the same mindset you need when you hit a roadblock in a building project. It teaches patience. You can't rush the process, whether you're perfecting a technique on the mat or ensuring the structural integrity of a new addition. It teaches navigation – finding the right path around obstacles. And it demands endurance – both physical and mental. Building, like jiu-jitsu, requires mental toughness. You have to be able to stay focused, manage stress, and make sound decisions under pressure.
At Revival Building and Remodeling, we bring all of this – the experience, the knowledge, the resilience, and the passion – to every project we undertake. So, if you're thinking about a home addition in 2025, we're ready. We're ready to take your vision to the next level. We're ready to build the future, one project at a time. Contact us today to discuss your project. Let's build something amazing together.
